Vision, a guiding sense of purpose, is an essential ingredient in the lives of individuals and also in the life of the ecclesia in every home, city and region.
Where there is no continually unfolding prophetic revelation, the people are unrestrained and tend to dwell carelessly. Much of what calls itself “church” today has a form of godliness while denying His power, which is hidden in His glory. His glory is revealed through life, not form.
Only a progressive and redemptive revelation of God in Christ (in us) will produce His manifest glory and release His power. We may all help one another discover specific purpose for our individual lives and the lives of our local/regional church expressions.
The following briefly exemplifies an apostolic overview (vision) for God’s kingdom. This perspective will help us to align our individual, local and regional visions with the purpose of God.
God’s power is hidden in His glory.1
We need to take our understanding of God’s “glory” out of the purely mystical realm, and understand it in the practical realm, so that His “power” may be revealed and released in response to creation’s cry.
Jesus said, He who has seen Me has seen the Father.3
Jesus is the firstborn among many brothers.4
Father is bringing many sons to glory.5
We glorify our Father by doing and finishing the work that He gives us to do.
Paul wrote that we have been created in Christ Jesus for good works.6
Jesus said, He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also.7
Creation is not waiting for the revealing of the Son of God. Neither is creation waiting for individual spiritual superstars. Creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God,8 the “perfect man” of many members, described in Ephesians 4:13.
Christ in us is the hope of glory.9 It is not “Christ in me.” It is “Christ in us - together.” Christ in you all, together, the hope of glory. We will glorify our Father as we discover and are equipped to walk together into our corporate destiny. His power, hidden in His glory, will be fully released into the earth through His body of many members. The earth will be filled with His kingdom (governmental) power and glory through His sons.
Apostles and prophets “unearth” the foundational mystery of Christ in you, the hope of glory. Others build upon that foundation.
Men can achieve significant levels of unity, and can-together-accomplish amazing results in the natural realm.
And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”10
Humanly envisioned projects can keep people together for a season. But, such vision should not be mistaken for the real deal. Here’s the real deal, the authentic heavenly vision, in the Master’s words:
“The glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one.”11
As we give ourselves to glorifying God, and we begin to recognize His glory on one another, we will also realize that we are one in Christ.
“I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”12
Apostolic visionaries determine to know (and show) nothing except Jesus Christ. 13
Jesus said, “He who has seen Me, has seen the Father.”14 That’s the vision we need!
