Called to Build a Resting Place For God

God is looking, looking, looking, and has been looking, for a long, long time, for a House where He can rest. And as the verse above suggests, He is longing for His last day's Temple to be built.

And not only is God longing and looking for it, but so is the whole world. Everybody, deep down, is searching for this place of true rest.

Yes, the whole world is longing and searching, but currently are unable to find it.

God's Temple is His glorious Church and this is exactly what the world wants. It's a perfect fit for them. It's being made for them. But at the moment they cannot find it anywhere, despite all their longing and searching.

Why can't they find it?

Because it's hidden and it's out of sight... not yet built according to the biblical pattern.

Temple Builders Distracted by the Enemy's Tactics

Since the very beginnings, God's temples and their builders have been under devilish attack. Take the Church Age period of the last two thousand years as an example. Satan's tactics have effectively caused the emphasis on the original blueprint to be hazy, resulting in its builders building their own version of what they thought it should be. This has produced distorted, false, and pseudo versions of God's Temple. And, as time has gone by, the people didn't notice that things were out of order, out of place, or wrong. Seemingly insignificant things over time slowly eroded God's Temple design, until what we have today is a grotesque version that bears no resemblance to the original, God given pattern.

“... A deceived heart has turned him aside;
And he cannot deliver his soul,
Nor say, 'Is there not a lie in my right hand?'”
Isaiah 44:20

Today we have an estimated 38,000* separate, segregated, denominational and independent churches and ministries. They have little or nothing to do with each other. They choose to be separate. Each one thinks they are doing OK. They are deluded and blind. They cannot see what God's original intention was for His Church.
It was never God's intention to have 38,000 separate groups. His intention has always been the same as Jesus' intention, that we all be one with each other, and one with Father, just as He is one with Father. John 17:21-23; Ephesians 1:10

No matter how hard we try to justify our division, it cannot be justified, because it is sin.

“Truly in our times of ignorance God overlooked, but now He
commands all men everywhere to repent.” Acts 17:30

" ... Every kingdom divided against itself is bought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand." Matthew 12:25

Where is God's House Today?

Look what the apostle Paul's said in his day:

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of
God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him.  For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”
1 Corinthians 3:16-17

God has always wanted a dwelling place on earth where He could live amongst His people. That's why he asked Moses to build Him a Tabernacle (house). And He came and filled that Tabernacle (made according to the pattern), with His Shekinah glory. He also showed up at the dedication of Solomon's Temple so strongly that the priests and musicians couldn't stand. They were knocked down by His presence. And, in Zerubbabel's day, when he was re-building the foundations of the destroyed temple, it was clear from all that God said to him about the work he was doing, was figurative of God's last day's Temple that would one day be filled with His glory! More on this shortly.

God is looking to dwell in a Temple not made with hands, but in the hearts of a singular, united, Body, who have one heart, and one mind. This is His clear intention! (Acts 17:24)

Can you imagine that? A Body (Church, Temple) flooded with God Himself, and where no flesh can stand to minister!

Calling God's Last Day's Master Builders

We are being called to be involved in the re-building God's Temple in this day and age. And it's important its foundations be correctly laid. Maybe you haven't identified your calling in the actual words being used here, but if you have a yearning to see Jesus' Glorious Church built and established in the earth, then it's highly probable you are a foundation builder and a master builder.

The reason I'm addressing you as foundation builders and master builders is because the Lord has been speaking to me about it in recent days. And He's emphasising the absolute importance of the right foundations being laid for His last day's temple. This one MUST be done right. It requires MASTER BUILDERS.

The Temple I'm talking about is a literal Temple. Not a building made with brick, stone, steel or wood, but nevertheless a literal Temple. His Temple, just like those of old, will be filled with the Shekinah glory. For His Shekinah glory to show up, the temple MUST be built according to the biblical pattern.

As a valuable resource, read David Orton's precise expression of the biblical pattern of the city-wide Church:

The Shekinah Glory

Without God's glory on us and in us, everything we do for Him and the Kingdom is a waste of time. It may have the appearance of effectiveness in man's eyes, but if His presence is missing, what's the point? Aren't we just going through the motions, when the real core essence of Who and What we are, is not turning up? Are we producing plenty of “wood, hay and stubble,” that is destined to burn up in an instant, when the Angel puts his torch to it in the Judgement? (1 Corinthians 3: 12-13)

Remember what Moses said?

“... If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” Exodus 33:15

Do you hear the desperateness in the attitude of the saints of old? They had experienced a taste of God's glory and nothing less would do.

The thing that's missing in many of our services is God's presence. How can we go on perpetuating God-less worship and activity and yet feel satisfied we've accomplished something?

The word Shekinah does not appear in the Bible, but the manifestations of God's glory in the past, is outlined for us below:

Shekinah itself represents the invisibility of Christ, the God of Israel, actually indwelling three sacred buildings during the age of Israel. He indwelt the Tabernacle, Solomon's Temple, and Zerubbabel's Temple. Glory represents the visible manifestation in Theophany form. A theophany is a manifestation of the person and work of Jesus Christ in His pre-incarnate state. This is a theological category for the appearances of Jesus Christ before the First Advent. Sourced from: March 6, 2014

Don't you long for the manifestation of Jesus Christ in all His glory?

Look at the prophet Ezekiel's vision!

"And he bought me by way of the north gate to the front of the Temple; so I looked, and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord; and I fell on my face. Ezekiel 44:4

“And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east. His voice is like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone with His glory.” Ezekiel 43:2 (Emphasis mine)

His glory is devastating to flesh, but without it what are we?

Aren't we just behaving as mere men?

We MUST have His glory for without it we are nothing, and our work and words are nothing! I believe, the Shekinah glory WILL manifest in the temple you and I have the privilege of preparing. When the right foundation has been laid, and our hearts are knit together as one, His glory will manifest.

And, I believe it's getting close.

We are the Jacob Generation

“This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face.” Psalm 24:6

More and more are like Jacob, and are wrestling with God and refusing to let Him go until He blesses them! And God always responds to these kinds of desperate people. He's looking for them and He causes them to prevail. Notice He calls Himself the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

A Word For Wise Master Builders

Are you catching the vision of what God is looking and yearning for, or is it too much “pie in the sky” for you?

Don't you agree that anything less than God's will and Christ's own perfection, is not of Christ? I'll say that again and it's worth repeating in case you missed it:

Anything less than Christ's own perfection is not of Christ.

We must be about our Father's business, not our version of what we think it should be. To do that is sin, and will be judged.

God is preparing His Temple now, and the preparation work is being done by His last day's Temple Builders. This is a sacred task and not to be treated as a way to get personal “brownie points.”

This is all about Jesus, and He being magnified!

This is God's Kingdom business. It's ramifications are eternal.

Look how seriously the apostle Paul treated it:

“According to the grace of God which is given to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let every man take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 (Emphasis mine).

Paul was very much aware that:

• Special grace had been given to him.
• He was to be wise master builder.
• This was God's building.
• The strong and firm foundation had to be laid.
• He was preparing the way for others to come and build on it.
• They also would need to be careful how they built on it.
• The foundation had to be Jesus. Nothing else would do.

And we must be the same.

A few days ago I was led by the Lord to read in Zecharia 4 about what took place with Zerubbabel when he was called to rebuild the foundation of the old, broken down, damaged Temple. Here's an overview:
Zerubbabel, and younger contemporary and his, Haggai, were not just concerned Jews who were despairing over the state of the once glorious Temple. They were types of the coming Messiah and they were getting on with the job of re-building the Temple. Of Zerubbabel it was said, “I will take you, Zerubbabel... and I will make you as a signet ring; for I have chosen you.” Haggai 2:23 (Emphasis mine).

This significant for us today.

Are You Being Called?

Do you feel that God has chosen you for a special task in these final days? I pray so. God is calling His wise Master Builders now. Some of you are already on the building site and are at work.

Just as Zerubbabel and Haggai were chosen for their special task, so are those who are called in this day and age. I pray you will be encouraged, as you read:

“So he answered and said to me:
“This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
Says the Lord of hosts.
‘Who are you, O great mountain?
Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain!
And he shall bring forth the capstone
With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!’
Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
'The hands of Zerubbabel
Have laid the foundation of this temple;
His hands shall also finish it.
Then you will know
That the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you.
For who has despised the day of small things?
For these seven rejoice to see
The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.
They are the eyes of the Lord,
Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.' ”
Zechariah 4:6-10

“For thus says the Lord of hosts:
'Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land;
And I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations,
And I will fill this Temple with glory, says the Lord of hosts.
The glory of this latter Temple shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts.
And in this place I will give peace, says the Lord of hosts.”'
Haggai 2:6-9

Grace, Grace, Will Abound to The Final Temple!

Are you feeling a little tired and maybe thinking of giving up? Don't give up.

Have you wondered if the call you have is valid? If He called you, He hasn't changed His mind.

Has too much time gone by without seeing any results? Wait on the Lord. His timing is perfect.

Don't give up my dear brother and sister!

“... The Lord whom you seek, will come suddenly to His Temple.
Even the messenger of the covenant, in Whom you delight.
Behold, He is coming, says the Lord of Hosts.
The lord will come suddenly to His temple.”
Malachi 3:1

The promises to Haggai and Zerubbabel were extravagant and glorious because God was looking FORWARD to our day and age, as well as theirs. What they were physically doing then in re-building the Temple was a type of the Temple we are called to build, at this end of the age.

This last day's Temple however, will not be built with materials such as bricks, or stone, or timber, but with “living stones,” born-again, living, committed, sons and daughters of Christ.

They will become the TRUE Body of Christ. Not just something in name only.

The Manifold Wisdom of God Made Known

“The purpose is that though the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made know to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.
This is in accordance with the terms of the eternal and timeless purpose which He realised and carried into effect, in the person of Christ Jesus our Lord;” Ephesians 3:10-11 AMP

Good News!

God intends to use the Church, His last day's Temple, filled with His glory, to reveal HIMSELF to the people of planet earth in our era!

You and I are being called NOW to play our part in it.

Can you imagine that? Being part of a Body flooded with Light?

This is what the world is waiting and longing for. A legitimate example of God's Church (people) in the earth.

And your faithful contribution will bear fruit... much fruit... and thankfulness to God, as you play your part.

See yourself as God's “Haggai or Zerubbabel.” Don't do it by your own might and strength but by God's Spirit. Claim the glorious role by faith in Him.

The Man BRANCH Will Build It

“... Thus says the Lord of hosts, saying:
'Behold, the Man whose name is the BRANCH!
From His place he shall branch out,
And He shall build the Temple of the Lord.
He shall bear the glory,
And He shall sit and rule on His throne;
So He shall be a priest on His throne,
And the counsel of peace shall be between them both...” '
“Even those who are far away shall come and build the Temple of the Lord. Then you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.
And this shall come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.” Zecharia 6:12-15

Lay all your concerns and frustrations on Him.

Give Him your work, your spouse, your children, your health, your finances, your future.

Hand them ALL over to Him, and let Him sort them out.

He wants to invade our 21st century world, including you and me, with HIMSELF.

Let's invite Him “home” now!

Your Brother,

David Drew
